Comcast informs us that we need an adapter for our regular cable connection – it’s supposed to be free, and will enhance the quality of the video and audio signal, as well as bring us a few channels.  But there must be something else going on here – they’re calling it a digital “starter” kit, which implies that something else would follow.  Maybe some other piece of hardware, or solicitation for more content?  I hardly watch any TV as it is, and what I watch isn’t particularly enhanced by HD.  But they say if we don’t use the adapter, eventually some of the extended basic channels will be dropped.  Would hate to lose the Daily Show, Colbert or House Hunters.  That’s what I watch on TV.  Also, the instructions say that the adapter has to be plugged in to an outlet that has power all the time.  That’s in conflict with my Smart Strip-powered set up.
