I was making a phone call from the landing at the top of the stairs on the third floor in my building, and while on hold I had the opportunity to closely examine the landscaping below.  Check out those three large sage plants.  They’re sending out some new flowering stems, but just towards the wall of the engineering building.  I think what’s happening here is that they’re now in shade most of the day, because of our new tall building and the low-angle of the sun this time of year, and they’re going for the afternoon sun reflected off the building wall instead.  Not visible in this photo are the many little birds hopping around down there, and two squirrels burying things.
