There we were, waiting patiently in the Civic at the light at Jefferson and Alameda de las Pulgas, when I noticed some movement in the Ceanothus plant by the bus stop. A small dark shape moving around. One of those large black bumblebees? Rather early in the day (and cold) for that type of behavior. Wait. That’s no bee. That’s a Wilson’s Warbler.

Wilson's Warbler

What I thought was a bee was actually the motion of his black cap as he hopped around. Nice way to start the day. As Woody Guthrie said, “Them’s got eyes let them see.”.
